President headed a discussion on progress of construction of Polonnaruwa Museum & Information Centre

He news 2017 8 14A discussion was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena to review the progress of the construction works of the Polonnaruwa Museum and Information Centre at the Polonnaruwa New Town at the Presidential Secretariat, yesterday (14).
The construction works carried out under the District Development Project of Pibidemu Polonnaruwa (Polonnaruwa awakening) by the President’s Program for Rajarata Nawodaya (New dawn to Rajarata). The expected expenditure for this project is Rs.6mn.


This Museum and Information Centre will be built to provide historical importance of Polonnaruwa to the future generation as well as for the benefit of the school children.


The President, who inquired about the progress of the construction work, directed the relevant sections to expedite it.


Secretary to the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs D. Swarnapala and the Director of the Department of National Musiums Sanuja Kasthuriarachchi were among those participated in this occasion.

The department assists media in a macro level in welfare, training, policy planning and accreditation, and providing easy access to Government news and information.
