Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne said that the Kandy Teaching Hospital will be developed and declared as the second national hospital of the country. The minister expects to do that by the next year.
Minister made these remarks during an observation visit to the hospital complex, to be constructed in Kandy for bone marrow transplants of over 3, 000 Thalassemia patients island-wide.
The minister instructed to construct the hospital complex in a seven-storied building. The project is expected to be finished by 2020 with the labor of naval personnel.
