As a part of ongoing Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant installing project, Sri Lanka Navy installed two more RO plants were declared open in Thanamalwila and Polpithigama on 7th and 8th July respectively, states navy media.
As a part of its community development projects, Navy installs RO plants in areas where high prevalence of Kidney Disease is recorded.
RO plants in Thanamalwila and Polpithigama are capable of providing safe drinking water to 120 and 475 families respectively. Financial allocation for this project was made by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease.
Up-to-date, the Navy has successfully installed a total of 226 RO facilities across the country facilitating over 107,510 families and 80,185 school children with safe drinking water
